Understanding cellular-cross talk within a tumour microenvironment

Project type

  • Honours
  • PhD

Project details

Our laboratory studies how communication between cells influences health and disease.

Focusing on soluble molecules called cytokines, we seek to understand the source and function of the messages that lead to the onset of cancers that affect the gastrointestinal tract and apply our discoveries to other cancers.

Emerging projects within our laboratory will focus on characterization of cytokine niches. Students will have an opportunity to apply cell biology, molecular biology and/or structural biology approaches to compare the signalling between related cytokines and apply the knowledge that we gain to the design of new therapeutic strategies.

About our research group

We are a dynamic and inclusive team that collaborate closely with numerous national and international research institutes, universities and biotechnology companies.
