Advancing precision medicine for Parkinson’s

Project: Advanced drug discovery

Aim

To establish a pipeline for testing potential disease-modifying drug candidates in our disease models to provide support for evidence-based clinical trials, and the identification of Parkinson’s subtypes that would best benefit from specific targeted therapies.

Approach

By bringing together leaders in drug discovery and development we will use the biological subtyping from Project 2, and the new disease models from Project 3 to identify new targets for disease-modifying drugs through structure-guided drug discovery and drug testing in disease models that reflect Parkinson’s subtypes.

Outcome

This project aims to improve clinical trials outcomes fostering international partnerships to support drug development by providing unique models to assess drug candidates against, expediting the translation of research findings into clinical trials.

It also aims to improve stem cell therapies with neuroprotective targets to promote stem cell engraftment.
