This mesmerising moving image unveils the bone marrow’s hidden molecular ecosystem, where patterns reminiscent of ochre-inspired art bring unseen cellular landscapes into view.

It integrates two advanced techniques: single-cell transcriptomics, which shows what individual cells are doing by analysing their gene activity, and protein immunofluorescence, which uses glowing markers to reveal where proteins are inside cells.

Combining these processes allows researchers to see how cells interact in their natural environment, in this case TP53-mutant acute myeloid leukaemia, a high-risk form of the disease. This work bridges basic science and clinical practice to inform more precise, personalised treatments for people with this aggressive blood cancer.
