Ripple Rhapsody
Breast cancer takes years to develop, as cells grow and change like a river flowing over time. Researchers can’t yet predict which cells will transform into cancer, which makes it difficult to prevent.
In the lab, breast cancer researcher Laura uses an advanced technique to introduce barcodes into cells, which act like genetic fingerprints. This allows her to track these cells over time, observing which ones become cancerous.
In this psychedelic image, each distinct colour represents a barcoded group of cells, offering a visually striking insight into their dynamic journey. By understanding the transformation these cells undergo, researchers move closer to developing targeted treatments to prevent cancer.
