Brightening like a light bulb, Island Oasis shows vibrant orange pancreatic cancer support cells, known as stromal cells, encircling a pancreatic cancer organoid.

Organoids are small cancer models grown in the lab from a patient’s own tissue, shown here in green. The vibrant purple parts are the nuclei from both the cancer and stromal cells.

This moving image illustrates the robust interactions between the cells, with each cell type having a profound connection to those around it.

Suya and Andrew created an advanced 3D model using a co-culture; a special gel to grow different cell types together.

By using these 3D models researchers can more accurately replicate real-life conditions inside the body. This approach provides valuable insights into cancer progression and treatment responses, ultimately helping us develop better therapies.
