Development and ageing

Hands holding petri dishDevelopment and ageing

Our earliest stages of embryonic development and childhood are critical for health throughout our lives, into old age.

We’re studying the biological mechanisms underpinning a range of congenital and age-related diseases, and translating this knowledge to new diagnostic approaches and targeted therapies.

This area of research includes neurodegenerative diseases, such as dementia, Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease, as well as congenital diseases that affect the very young, such as Prader-Willi syndrome, cystic fibrosis and intellectual disorders.
