I manage the Laboratory Operations team who provide support services that underpin our institute’s scientific research and commercialisation activities.
I have worked in research institutions for the past 25 years, initially as a research scientist and subsequently in management and operations roles. My scientific background is based in genetics, cell signaling and cytokines, and protein expression technologies. Following my PhD studies, I travelled to the UK for postdoctoral work then on returning to Melbourne, came to WEHI as a Research Scientist in the Cooperative Research Centre for Cellular Growth Factors.
From 2006-2012, I worked on the institute’s Redevelopment Project, liaising between the institute’s scientists and administration groups and the building design and consultant team. Our efforts resulted in an excellent space for institute staff to perform cutting edge science, delivered on time and under budget.
In my role as laboratory operations manager, I support the scientific services to provide high quality and cost-effective services. I also coordinate design and compliance requirements for institute laboratories and facilities.
