Volunteer Blood Donor Registry

The Volunteer Blood Donor Registry (VBDR) is a not-for-profit service established by WEHI and Melbourne Health to support medical research in the Parkville precinct.

Medical researchers need small blood samples from a large number of healthy donors to compare against blood samples from patients suffering from a disease. Identifying the changes between the samples helps researchers study the causes of disease and aid progress towards effective treatment and cure.

It doesn’t matter which blood type you are: whether you’re tall or short, male or female, if you spent time in the UK between 1980 and 1996 and regardless of your sexual orientation, you can help medical researchers find a cure for life-threatening diseases.
