How Mentorship and Inspiration Shape Discovery – in conversation with Professors Peter Doherty and Rolf Zinkernagel
WEHI warmly invites you to a special “Meet the Nobel Laureates” event exploring how mentorship, inspiration and collaboration shape scientific discovery.
Nobel Laureates Professor Peter Doherty and Professor Rolf Zinkernagel shared the 1996 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for their discoveries concerning the specificity of cell-mediated immune defence. Their work transformed immunology. Equally significant has been their enduring influence as mentors, collaborators and leaders in science.
In this interactive session, Professors Doherty and Zinkernagel will reflect on the people who shaped their own scientific journeys, the role of mentorship in moments of breakthrough, and what they see as the most important supports for students and early career researchers today.
This is a rare opportunity to hear directly from two of the most influential scientists of our time, and to engage in open discussion about building a meaningful and impactful research career.
Join us for an inspiring conversation about the human side of discovery and the mentorship that helps make it possible.
