Clinical translation is a final essential step toward taking a promising scientific discovery from bench to bedside, which requires clinician engagement and clinical trials. Early clinician involvement can also inform the most appropriate directions for new scientific discoveries, looking to optimise the potential for impact. As such, embedding clinician scientists at WEHI and connecting with clinicians at Melbourne Health and beyond are important goals. In this seminar I will cover examples of how clinician scientists at WEHI are contributing to research output, and discuss ongoing developments in Clinical Translation and Discovery as we strive for more clinician engagement and greater clinician support.
