Human subject research is essential to study the biology of disease and to develop new drugs and vaccines.

In this seminar the development of a clinical trial facility will be described, and its recent use to study the biology of important infectious diseases will be outlined. Issues addressed will include navigating the regulatory, ethical and governance requirements, the selection and GMP manufacture of a challenge agent and obtaining a community license for these sort of studies that have a controversial past.
