Anca Dorhoi is Director of the Institute of Immunology at the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut (FLI), Greifswald-Isle of Riems, and Professor of Immunology at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Greifswald, Germany. She studied veterinary medicine in Cluj-Napoca, Romania and specialized in infectious diseases also in Lisbon, Portugal. To study immunity to mycobacteria she joined the Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology (MPIIB) in Berlin, Germany, as a postdoctoral fellow and later became head of the Minerva Group Innate Immunity at the MPIIB. Her laboratory at the FLI studies the immune system and immune responses to bacterial and viral pathogens in livestock and wildlife in a One Health approach. She is an expert in innate immunity with a focus on myeloid cell biology and the control of inflammation, particularly in tuberculosis.
