T-cell Help for B Cells: 60 Years of Discovery and Beyond
Dr Di Yu is the Chair in Paediatric Immunotherapy and inaugural Director of the Ian Frazer Centre of Children’s Immunotherapy Research at the University of Queensland. As a Professor of Immunology, he heads the Systems and Translational T-cell Immunology Laboratory.
He was educated at Wuhan University (BSc) and the Australian National University (PhD), followed by postdoctoral training at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research. Before joining UQ, he held faculty positions at Monash University and ANU. His research focuses on investigating T cell subsets, especially follicular helper T (Tfh) cells, innovating "systems immunology" techniques to assess immune status, and developing novel therapies to regulate T cell functions in autoimmune diseases and cancer.
Dr Yu has authored over 140 publications in premier journals, including Nature, Nature Immunology, Nature Medicine, Nature Computational Science, Immunity, and Science Immunology as a senior author. He is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences and the recipient of the 2023 Jacques Miller Medal from the Australian Academy of Science. He also serves as the Vice President of the Federation of Immunological Societies of Asia-Oceania (FIMSA) and on committees for the International Union of Immunological Societies and the Cytokine Society.
