Dr Vijiaratnam is a neurologist with subspecialty interest and training in Movement disorders.
He graduated from the University of Melbourne in 2009 and completed his neurology training at the Western, Monash and Alfred Health services. He undertook his movement disorders sub speciality training at the Movement Disorder Unit at the Alfred Hospital before being awarded the ANZAN overseas fellowship at the Royal Free Hospital in London. He was subsequently awarded the Janet Owen’s Fellowship position at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square in London where he trained in a range of movement disorders. During this time he also completed a PhD in biomarkers and novel treatments for Parkinson’s disease at the world renowned University College London Institute of Neurology.
Dr Vijiaratnam currently heads the movement disorders service at Monash Health. He is an adjunct senior lecturer at Monash University and also serves on scientific committees in the international Parkinson’s disease and movement disorders society and is actively involved in clinical trials and research studies.
