The Thrombopoietin Receptor is the primary regulator of megakaryopoiesis and subsequent platelet production, as well as playing a crucial role in maintenance of hematopoietic stem cells in the bone marrow. Consequently, a number of hematological disorders can arise through both loss and gain of function mutations in this pathway.

This seminar will describe recent studies on the Thrombopoietin Receptor, including elucidation of the cryo-EM structure of the extracellular domains in complex with Thrombopoietin, modelling of drug-receptor interactions, and investigations into novel functional regions of the intracellular domain.
