Dr Walensky is a Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School and a Pediatric Hematologist–Oncologist at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Boston Children’s Hospital. Trained in chemistry, medicine, and cancer biology, his work bridges mechanism and therapy, with a longstanding focus on the BCL-2 family of proteins that regulate mitochondrial apoptosis in cancer. His laboratory integrates chemical biology, structural insight, and translational investigation to dissect the molecular determinants of chemoresistance and identify new therapeutic strategies to overcome them.

Dr Walensky is also deeply committed to training the next generation of physician-scientists and serves as Director of the Harvard/MIT MD-PhD Program.
