InSPIRE student experience

InSPIRE is much more than just experiencing Australia’s cutting-edge biomedical research – it’s also about immersing students in Melbourne’s vibrant culture and engaging with an international community of scientists and supporters.

Medical research in Australia

The Australian health and medical research industry makes significant impact internationally.

Australia produces more than 3% of world scientific publications yet accounts for about 0.3% of the world’s population. Discoveries made in Australia have revolutionised thinking around the immune system, advanced drug development and improved our use of technology.

WEHI is Australia’s oldest medical research institute. We are consistently ranked at the top of Australian research institutes for our work to improve the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of immune disorders, infectious diseases and cancer.

Testimonials

“These programs not only lift up the student’s scientific interest, but also greatly helped shape their scientific careers.” – Professor Quan Zhao, Nanjing University

“Our students not only received scientific training in WEHI, but also were exposed to Australian culture in Melbourne… The students have had a great time and expressed their happiness and their love for life sciences solidified by this experience.”  – Professor Ling Sun, Fudan University
