We are a community of researchers, students, and professional service staff who work towards achieving discoveries that improve human health.

The Institute board and executive team are mindful of their responsibilities to our staff and students and work to provide an environment that develops engaged and productive members. This can include promoting equality, encouraging reconciliation or creating networking opportunities.

Australia is one of the world’s most diverse, cultural countries. Nearly 60 per cent of Melbourne residents were born overseas and the most common language spoken other than English, is Mandarin.

Melbourne is a major centre for business, cultural and sporting activities. In 2017 The Economist Intelligence Unit ranked Melbourne the world's moost liveable city for the seveth consecutive year.

The city is located on Port Phillip Bay, and is within easy reach to beaches, wineries, hills and the Great Ocean Road.
