I am a passionate research development leader and have supported research in professional roles in the Parkville Biomedical Precinct for almost a decade. I began my career as a researcher in molecular biology and neuroscience and held post-doctoral positions at Lund University (Sweden) and the University of Melbourne. Following positions at major universities focused on major projects, research infrastructure and research development, I joined WEHI in 2021 to better position our research for priority-driven, impact focused and translational funding opportunities, particularly those from the Medical Research Future Fund.
I became Head of Research Grants and Development in 2024, leading a dynamic team that provides comprehensive research management services across the grant lifecycle – from project conception to reporting outcomes to stakeholders. Our goal is to secure competitive national and international research grant funding, while improving researcher capabilities and enhancing WEHI’s research reputation. We strive to increase WEHI’s grant funding, diversify our funders and facilitate excellent research outcomes for our partners and stakeholders.
Collaboration is key; our team works closely with researchers, senior leaders and other Professional Services colleagues. Our guidance enables researchers to confidently design and manage their research programs, allowing them to focus on delivering new discoveries.
I share leadership responsibility for Research Grants and Development with Dr Catherine Hayden, allowing me to continue work I am passionate about – partnering with senior executives, researchers and their collaborators to develop large scale, collaborative research programs to achieve health benefits for the community.
