Discovery tours provide a unique opportunity for the community to get in contact with medical research. 

  • See our state of the art facilities
  • Learn about some of our most exciting discoveries
  • Meet our scientists
  • Hear how our research is shaping future treatments

Tours are free and run for approximately 60 minutes.

We welcome visits from schools, community groups, universities and individuals.

The Institute is also open to the public for Open House Melbourne on 30 July 2017.


Tours can be booked online for select dates and times throughout the year. Bookings are essential.

A special discovery tour will be run as part of the Day of Immunology event program:

As tour groups visit a working laboratory, closed toe shoes must be worn for occupational health and safety reasons. The minimum age for discovery tour attendees is 12 years old.

Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. Adjustments to bookings can be made up to 14 days prior to the tour date.

There is no parking available on the Institute grounds. Limited paid parking is available beneath the Institute and along Royal Parade.
