Medical Student Vacation Scholarships

Medical Student Vacation Scholarships

Smiling researchers in the lab
WEHI will offer four-week paid research placements for medical students in the 2022-2023 summer vacation period.

Vacation scholarships allow medical students to get hands-on experience in medical research, contributing to the work of leading research teams at WEHI.

Areas of research will be dependent on supervisor availability, and spread across cancer, infectious and immune diseases, developmental disorders, and healthy ageing themes.

Eligibility and selection criteria

Applicants must be currently enrolled in an Australian undergraduate or postgraduate medical degree (MD or MBBS), with enrolment continuing during December 2022 and January 2023. Students who have not yet commenced their medical degree or students who will have completed their medical degree in 2022 are not eligible.

In 2022-2023 Scholarships will be awarded to four applicants. Applications will be assessed on academic merit and research interests.

Please note we endeavour to run this program as planned in 2022-2023, however this will be subject to COVID-19 restrictions in place at WEHI at the time.
