Research Technician (Burgess/Sieber Laboratory)

About the position

The laboratory focuses on establishing replicas of human tissues in vitro (organoids) from normal and cancer biopsies from individual patients.  This role will involve coordinating and performing tissue processing, 3D organoid cultures and drug assays, cryo-storage, general laboratory duties including microscopy and the development of appropriate drug sensitivity reports. The appointee will coordinate the activities of other staff supporting the organoid laboratory.

Selection Criteria

A BSc (Hons) degree or equivalent is required, with a strong background in cell biology. The successful candidate will have experience in human tissue handling and experimentation. Previous experience in generation and maintenance of 3D organoid cultures is desirable.

The appointee will need to work with a degree of independence and have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a capacity to work well in a team-oriented environment.  Excellent attention to detail and record keeping skills is also required.

Terms of appointment

This available until 31 December 2019 to cover parental leave.  Up to 17% superannuation and very attractive salary packaging options are available.
