In March we were privileged to welcome representatives of the Hall family - descendants of Walter Hall’s brother – to the Institute.

In attendance were Eliza Hall, Phoebe Hall and Rupert Hall, whose great-grandfather was Thomas Hall, the brother of Walter Hall, and their mother Lucinda Hall.

The family, who now lives in London, toured our laboratories, learning about the research undertaken at the Institute that has its foundations in Walter and Eliza Hall’s philanthropy more than 100 years ago.

Escorting them on the tour were Professor Suzanne Cory, Professor Jerry Adams and Ms Jie Zhou.

The Hall family were impressed with the scope and sophistication of the Institute’s research and were proud to see first-hand how far the legacy of their ancestor had reached.

“We’re so excited to be here and see the amazing work that’s being done,” said Eliza Hall on the visit. “We can’t wait to come back.”
