Including Q&A session

Harry is a 5th-year advanced trainee in Infectious Diseases and Microbiology, and in 2023 has worked for the Victorian Infectious Diseases Service and the Victorian Infectious Diseases Reference Laboratory.  His interests include cost-effective rapid tests in diagnostic microbiology, applications of whole genome sequencing to clinical microbiology, and the interplay between laboratory testing, reporting, and antimicrobial stewardship in hospitals.

He will present the results of a study using whole genome sequencing to detect and characterise multiple beta-lactamase genes in some common gram-negative bacterial pathogens.  The implications of recent clinical guidelines will be discussed, and the broader implications for laboratory reporting, surveillance, and antimicrobial stewardship interventions in Australian hospitals.

Hosted by WEHI ID2 and VIDRL – Doherty Institute
