An opportunity is available for a Division Coordinator to join the Ubiquitin Signalling Division at Australia’s pre-eminent biomedical research institute.  

About the position

The purpose of this role is to maximise the time that the Division’s researchers are able to spend on research activities and ensure that the Division runs efficiently by providing high-level administrative, regulatory, budgetary and scientific support. This position will report directly to the Division Head, and act as a liaison between the Division and the Professional Service areas of the Institute, involving regular interaction with all Institute departments and key external organisations. The successful applicant will work alongside another Division co-ordinator and assist with many of the routine tasks such as travel/conference arrangements, credit card reconciliation and taking minutes.

Selection Criteria

The successful candidate will work closely with Laboratory Heads in the Ubiquitin Signalling Division.  The position will suit a motivated individual with excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.

The appointee should demonstrate:

  • an ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage priorities to meet deadlines on multiple concurrent tasks.
  • strong administrative and/or business experience in a medical research or academic environment.
  • high attention to detail and an ability to rapidly adapt and respond to changes in environment and priorities.
  • ability to consistently show initiative with an ability to work efficiently and autonomously. 
  • an ability to understand and prepare scientific documentation. 
  • Laboratory experience and/or relevant qualifications such as a BSc (Hons) or PhD in the Life Sciences is desirable, but not essential.

Terms of appointment

This position is available for 2 years in a part-time capacity at 0.4 FTE. Salary is HEW 7 ($90,831 - $98,325). Up to 17% superannuation and very attractive salary packaging options are available.
