Our research is conducted by a multidisciplinary team of clinical, laboratory, field, data management and administrative staff across two PNGIMR sites in Madang and Maprik, in collaboration with colleagues at international research institutes and universities.

Projects: Investigating contribution of symptomatic and asymptomatic P. falciparum and P. vivax infections to onward transmission; impact of national malaria control program on vector abundance, behavior and sporozoite infection rate; insecticide resistance monitoring and impact of MDA on LF transmission.

Projects: Investigating the changing patterns of malaria infection and illness in young children alongside intensification of control; assessing the impact of repeated episodes of malaria and other infectious diseases on early childhood growth; obtaining new insights into the multifactorial causes of LBW in Papua New Guinea.
