Julian Clark has more than 35 years of international business experience in growing and leading technology, research and healthcare enterprises, large and small.  He has held senior executive positions in Europe, Japan, North America, India and Australia, including CEO of Pharmacia LKB Biotech (Sweden), Chairman/MD Biochrom (UK), Director Pharmacia KK (Japan), and COO of Faulding Pharma (Australia).  In addition, Julian has operated his own consulting business, Julian Clark Consulting Pty Ltd, for several years assisting commercial and academic organisations with development, commercialisation and organisational strategies to secure sustainable growth. In recent years he has been particularly active in translating business opportunities across the public-private interface.

Julian’s industry experience includes development, marketing, manufacturing and supply chain management of pharmaceuticals (oral, topical, injectable), diagnostics and devices, being responsible for a Phase 1 – 4 clinical trials organisation, consumer products (nutraceuticals, dermaceuticals and over-the counter, analytical instruments and control software, biomolecular purification systems, industrial processes and equipment, and chemicals and research reagents.

Julian’s key accomplishments include:

  • Considerable experience in leading and facilitating organisational change in both the academic and commercial sectors
  • Planning and leading many business transitions (startup, turnaround, acquisition, divestment) and linking short- with long-term business objectives
  • A strong track record in successful product development and commercialisation of science and technologies
  • Intellectual mobility with skills learnt from many functions and industry sectors
  • Strong cross-cultural skills resulting from broad international experience
