Wellcome Trust Malaria Genome Project
Funded by the Wellcome Trust, the Malaria Genome project was established to provide researchers with detailed maps of the 14 chromosomes of Plasmodium falciparum. The goals of the project are:-
- to produce an ordered YAC library covering the entire P. falciparum genome (3D7 clone)
- to derive sequence-tagged site (STS) markers at intervals of approximately 50kb
- to provide a medium resolution restriction site map of the genome.
Additionally, a YAC library screening service offers a short cut to laboratories interested in analysing specific DNA regions (see Foster J. et al., The Plasmodium falciparum genome project: a resource for researchers. Parasitol Today 11:1-4, 1995 for details).
This page provides access to the genome mapping data that has been accumulated in the project and is presented in various lists and views in the accompanying pages.
This page provides access to a number of text files, located at the WEHI anonymous FTP site, of nucleotide and protein sequence data in EMBL and GCG formats, aswell as malaria strain information.
This page provides information about the - presently under constuction - MalariaDB (using ACeDB software) aswell as providing the accompanying ACE files.
