Announcement of the NARF Post-Doctoral Investigator Award Winner 2008

 

Congratulations to Dr. Travis Beddoe of Monash University!

 

NARF announces the winner of the annual award which recognizes outstanding independent health/medical/biomedical research achievements by an Australian postdoctoral researcher at an early stage of their career. The intention of the Award is to recognize such achievement and to encourage the career aspirations of young Australian investigators in health/medical/biomedical research.

Dr. Beddoe will be speaking at the 2008 NARF Research Symposium.

 

The Annual NARF Research Symposium

The 2008 annual NARF symposium will be held on November 17th, 2008 at the Brisbane Convention Centre during the Australian Health and Medical Research Congress (AHMRC).  The symposium will be chaired by Dr Rohan Teasdale and co-chaired by Associate Professor Alpha Yap and will showcase research by three current NHMRC Fellows of outstanding caliber.

The 2008 NARF Annual General Meeting will be held at 12 noon immediately preceding the symposium. Please note that NARF members are not required to register for the AHMRC to attend the AGM.

The annual NARF dinner will be held that evening to allow NARF members an opportunity to socialise.

ARC Future Fellowships


The Australian Government announced the creation of a new scheme, Future  Fellowships, to promote research in areas of critical national  importance by giving world class researchers incentives to conduct  their research in Australia. The aim of Future Fellowships is  to attract and retain the best and brightest mid-career researchers.

Over a five-year period (2009 -2013), Future  Fellowships will  offer four-year Fellowships of up to $140,000 a year to 1,000 Australian  and international top researchers in the middle of their career. In addition,  each researcher’s administering organisation will receive funding of  up to $50,000 per year to support related infrastructure, equipment,  travel and relocation costs.
