The Cytometry laboratory at the WEHI is
equipped with a Confocal Laser Scanning Microscope (CLSM). Confocal
microscopy is a relatively new technique that permits us to obtain high-resolution
images of very thin sections of a specimen. This unique optical sectioning
property, together with a suitable computer, allows us to image structures
in three dimensions. Specimens to be imaged with the confocal must be
labelled with a fluorescent probe.
Confocal Microscopy training sessions are available
for new users by appointment. Both training sessions and bookings
can be made with the Cytometry staff on 9345 2540.
