A FACS II cell sorter has been converted to full dual laser configuration with two independently focussed and aligned Argon-ion lasers. Extensive electronic additions have been required to handle the problems of signal timing and dual fluorescence compensation. Applications envisaged include the combination of surface and vital DNA staining, light scatter measurements at different wavelengths and also a higher efficiency for the Fluorescein/Rhodamine double surface labeling system.
