List of Mapped Yacs

This document provides a listing of all Yac clones to which STSs have been assigned. It lists the libraries from which the Yac was isolated and any STSs which have been found to be within that Yac.

YAC nomenclature

There are 3 libraries, 2 from the line 3D7 digested with either MunI or EcoRI. The third library is made from the B8 cloned line of ItG2 by Tony Triglia. The numbers following the library name are the tray, row and column numbers which identify the particular YAC.

STS Nomenclature

The nomenclature for STSs is as follows. Each STS has a unique 7 character code of the form X00-0000

X is single letter lab designation
F-University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida, USA
I- Institute of Molecular Medicine, Oxford, United Kingdom
M-Menzies School of Health Research, Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia
R- National Institute of Medical Research, Mill Hill, United Kingdom
S- Sloan Kettering Institute for Cancer Research, New York, NY, USA
W-Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research, Parkville, Victoria, Australia.
The next two digits are the chromosome number. If the STS has not been assigned to a chromosome, it is given the designation 00.

The next four digits are the STS number

The Nomenclature for the primers corresponding to a particular STS are X00-0000y where y is either a or b corresponding to the order of primers in the list.
